BACKYARD GARDEN

MODEL TEST SHOOT

This shoot took place in the backyard of my childhood home. My mom is an incredible gardener, which meant that I got to work with her beautifully cultivated, lush, garden. I think this shoot perfectly illustrates that you don’t need an elaborate set to create meaningful portraits!

I think my favorite aspect of this whole shoot is the contrast between the model’s bright red hair and matching overalls against the rich greenery. Because we shot on an overcast day there was just the most soft and flattering light. The images feel a bit whimsical, and almost give poison ivy vibes :)

Working within the limitations of the small space definitely encouraged creative posing and ways to interact with the landscape.
