BACKYARD GARDEN
MODEL TEST SHOOT
This shoot took place in my childhood home's backyard, a space that is rich with nostalgia for me. My mom is an incredible gardener, which meant that I got to work with her beautifully cultivated, lush, garden. I think this shoot perfectly illustrates that you don’t need an elaborate set to create meaningful portraits!
I think my favorite part of this whole shoot is the contrast between the model’s striking red hair and matching overalls against the rich greenery. Because we shot on an overcast day there was just the most soft and flattering light. The images seem reminiscent of a whimsical, poison ivy-inspired feel!
Working within the limitations of the space encouraged creativity in our posing. The result? A series of incredibly unique images that celebrate both the beauty of my mom's garden and the artistry of making the most of what you’ve got!
